Dr. Britt Shorter, Medical Director, Veterinarian

Medical Director, Veterinarian

Dr. Britt earned his undergraduate degree in Environmental Science & Wildlife from the University of Vermont before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed an emergency-focused internship at BEVS and is Fear Free and RECOVER certified. He is also a USDA-accredited veterinarian. He joined the clinic in 2022, and stepped into the role of Medical Director in 2025.

Dr. Britt enjoys all aspects of small-animal practice, with a particular interest in surgery.

He lives in Milton, Vermont, with his wife Julie, their son Logan, three cats, a dog, and a flock of chickens. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys hiking, traveling, photography, collecting vinyl records, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Michael Tanneberger, Veterinarian

Dr. Mike grew up in Connecticut and graduated from the University of Connecticut before attending veterinary school at Cornell University. Prior to his arrival at Petit Brook, he was a partner in a large mixed practice in Northern NY and then a small animal practice here in VT. From his perspective, sharing information with clients and having them involved in decisions about their pets are the cornerstones of veterinary medical practice. He is involved in coaching softball, basketball, and Odyssey of the Mind with his wife and children. He loves hiking and being on the lake. His dogs have included everything from dachshunds to Great Danes.

MAT

Dr. Melissa Trayah, Veterinarian

Dr. Melissa Trayah earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine after graduating with high honors in Biology and Mathematics from Trinity College of Vermont. She completed an internship at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists, specializing in radiology, internal medicine, and emergency care.

Dr. Melissa has a particular interest in radiology and is Fear Free and RECOVER certified. A longtime Colchester resident with a background in local farming, she enjoys gardening, dog training, and dressage in her spare time. She shares her home with a Jack Russell Terrier, a Thoroughbred, and a Calico cat.

Alli

Dr. Allison Lull, Veterinarian

Dr. Alli is a 2023 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, where she completed both her undergraduate and veterinary studies. She divides her time between treating horses and working with dogs and cats at Petit Brook.

With a special interest in pain management through spinal manipulation, exercise, and medication, Dr. Alli focuses on supporting aging pets and athletes. Her love for veterinary medicine comes from the strong bonds she’s shared with pets throughout her life.

When not working, she enjoys hiking, Cross-Country Skiing, running, and exploring the natural beauty of Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York with her fiancé, two dogs, and two cats.

Abby

Abby, Practice Manager

Abby joined the team as our Practice Manager in 2022. Before stepping into this role, she spent many years working as a veterinary technician. Abby was born and raised in Vermont and holds a degree in Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont, with a special interest in ornithology. She shares her home with her husband and her amazing Australian Shepherd, Piper. When she’s not at the clinic, Abby enjoys spending her free time crafting.

Chris, Certified Veterinary Technician

Chris has been a member of the Petit Brook Veterinary Clinic staff for over 23 years! She graduated from St. Michael’s College in 1988 with a BA in Fine Arts. She serves in all capacities of the clinic and, in 2005, passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam. She is a member of the Vermont Veterinary Technicians Association with a special interest in behavior. She has an exuberant cat named Spartacus, and her corgi, Aretha, keeps everyone in line!

Naomi

Naomi, Certified Veterinary Technician

Naomi began at Vermont Technical College through the VAST program in her senior year of high school, graduating and becoming certified in 2019. Early in her career, she assisted a veterinarian caring for rehabilitated wildlife, an experience she loved.

She joined the PBVC team in 2022, where she works both at the front desk and alongside the doctors. At home, Naomi has two large dogs, Zeus and Vandal, and enjoys family time, dancing, musical theater, and traveling.

Leah

Leah, Certified Veterinary Technician

Leah graduated from Vermont Technical College in 2017 and joined our team in 2024. With a passion for senior dog care and nutrition, Leah is dedicated to helping pets live their best, healthiest lives. Outside of work, she loves staying active by hiking, running, and biking, all while enjoying the natural beauty of the area.
Emma

Emma, Certified Veterinary Technician

Emma joined our team while attending Vermont Technical College and graduated in 2024. She now splits her time between our clinic and Burlington Veterinary Services and Specialty. Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time outdoors and caring for her three cats—Basil, Bean, and Bonkers—and her horse, Willow.
Amanda

Amanda, Veterinary Technician

Amanda has been a technician for 15 years now. She has been at Petit Brook Veterinary Clinic for 14 years. Amanda is our social media lady and keeps our Facebook page fun and full of information. She has a special love for giant breed dogs. She shares her home with her husband, her son, her daughter, many chickens, a new puppy, and 2 kitties.
Ari

Ari, Veterinary Technician

Ari is originally from Portland, Maine. Ari has been part of the Petit Brook family for 9 years now! She graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science and moved to Vermont after graduation. In her spare time, she likes horseback riding and doing agility training with her two dogs, Riley and Witten.

Michelle

Michelle, Veterinary Technician

Michelle has been with the Petit Brook family for a little over a year. Before Petit Brook, Michelle worked extensively with research animals for 10 years. Michelle is excited to expand her technician skills to companion animals and build relationships with their owners. Michelle spends her free time camping, exploring, and spoiling her pup, Willie Nelson.

Emily

Emily, Veterinary Technician

Emily graduated from Vermont Technical College in 2015 and has a particular interest in surgery. She enjoys hands-on work and the impact it has on her patients’ care. At home, Emily lives with her two dogs, Dixon and Link, and spends her free time crocheting.
Stefanie

Stefanie, Client Service Representative

Steff was born and raised in Vermont and has spent her whole life working with animals. She joined our team in 2022, bringing years of hands-on experience. At home, Steff lives with her fiancé, five cats, and two dogs, which keeps her busy when she’s not at work. Her practical knowledge and love for animals make her an invaluable part of our team.
Dee

Dee, Client Service Representative

Dee joined our team in 2022 and brings a warm, welcoming presence to the clinic. She loves greeting our patients and getting to know their owners. Outside of work, Dee enjoys camping, fishing, watching NASCAR, and seeking out moose in the great outdoors.
KariAnn

KariAnn, Client Service Representative

KariAnn has been working in the veterinary field for four years and is currently taking courses to become a veterinary technician. Originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, she hopes to specialize in surgery after completing her program and passing her exam.

At home, she has a wonderfully spoiled dog and three crazy cats who keep life fun. In her free time, KariAnn enjoys shopping, watching the newest movies, and finding yummy food to try.
